This policy explains what information Read Aloud For Me collects and why. It covers the Read Aloud For Me and Read Aloud For Me PRO apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, our Android apps, and the website readaloudforme.com (together, the "Services"). The Services are run by DjamgaTech Corp ("we", "us", "our"), Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The short version

• Your documents stay on your device. The read-aloud feature in our iPhone, iPad and Mac apps recognizes and reads text on your device. We never receive the pages, photos, PDFs or text you read.
• No account. You don't sign up, log in or give us your name or email to use the apps.
• We don't track your location, use social logins, or sell your personal information.
• The free iOS app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device and usage data to show and measure ads. PRO has no ads.
• Our website uses Google Analytics and, on some AI tool reference pages, Google AdSense ads.

1. Read Aloud on iPhone, iPad and Mac

When you scan a page, choose a photo or screenshot, open a PDF or file, or paste text, the app uses your device's built-in text recognition and voices to read it to you. This happens on your device and works without an internet connection. That content is not uploaded to us or to anyone else by the app.

• Camera: used only when you scan a page. Scans stay on your device.
• Photos: the app opens only the photos you choose. They stay on your device.
• Recent list: texts you save are stored on your device only. You can delete them in the app, and they're removed if you delete the app.
• Translation and summaries use Apple's built-in translation and, on Apple Intelligence devices, Apple's own features. Apple's privacy policy applies to them.

2. Advertising (free app only)

The free iOS app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show, limit and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect information such as your IP address, device type and settings, app interactions with ads, and identifiers for the app on your device. The app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so it does not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Ads only load when your device is online. Watching one short ad turns ads off for 24 hours. Read Aloud For Me PRO has no ads.

3. The AI Tools tab and our Android apps

The AI Tools tab in the iOS app, and our Android apps, display pages from readaloudforme.com. When you use them, the website practices in section 4 apply. Some AI tools in the catalog are run by other companies and open their own pages; their privacy policies apply to what you do there. A few of those tools can use your microphone, but only when you allow it.

4. The website (readaloudforme.com)

• Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited. It uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, and your device and browser type. You can block analytics cookies in your browser or use Google's opt-out add-on.
• Ads: the homepage, search and catalog carry no ads. Some individual AI tool reference pages show ads from Google AdSense, which may use cookies to personalize ads. You can manage this at adssettings.google.com.
• Tool ratings: if you rate a tool, the rating, the nickname you type and your comment are stored in our database (Google Firebase) and shown publicly. Don't include personal information you don't want published. Your own ratings are also saved in your browser.
• Hosting: the site is hosted on Google Firebase, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and operation.
• Affiliate links: some tool listings are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the seller may use cookies to tell us a sale came from our site. We don't receive your payment details.

5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, the iOS app may schedule an occasional reminder or a suggested AI tool. These are created on your device, not sent from our servers. To pick a suggestion, the app downloads our public tool catalog file from readaloudforme.com; it doesn't send any personal information. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings.

6. Payments and donations

PRO is purchased through Apple's App Store, and donations are handled by Stripe. We don't see or store your card details. Apple's and Stripe's privacy policies apply to those payments.

7. What we don't do

• We don't collect the content you read aloud.
• We don't require or offer accounts.
• We don't collect your precise location, contacts, or social media data.
• We don't sell your personal information.

8. Children

The apps are rated 4+ and are used in schools. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The read-aloud feature collects nothing. Schools and families who want no ads can use Read Aloud For Me PRO. If you believe a child has posted personal information in a public tool rating, contact us and we'll remove it.

9. Keeping and deleting information

Content in the app stays on your device until you delete it or the app. Public tool ratings are kept until you ask us to remove them. Analytics and advertising data is kept by Google under its own retention settings.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, or California law), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Because we don't run accounts, we usually hold none beyond public tool ratings. To make a request, email us at the address below.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
